About the HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA)
The HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) serves one of New York City’s most vulnerable populations—low-income individuals diagnosed with HIV or AIDS—by providing comprehensive access to essential benefits and supportive services. These services include intensive case management, direct access to Cash Assistance, Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), long-term care, homemaking services, emergency housing, and permanent housing assistance.
HASA currently employs approximately 1,100 staff members who serve more than 33,000 clients, including 2,500 families, across New York City.
Program Evolution and Client-Centered Services
Advances in healthcare have significantly improved the quality of life for individuals living with HIV. In response, HASA has evolved over the past decade to better address the changing needs of its clients. Program priorities have expanded to focus on maximizing access to healthcare, improving the availability and quality of both emergency and non-emergency housing, and supporting client independence.
Many HASA clients express interest in entering or re-entering the workforce. To support these goals, HASA offers voluntary vocational services, including counseling to identify employment barriers, career planning, and access to supportive resources that help clients pursue meaningful vocational objectiv
