e: This position is open only to current City of New York employees serving in permanent (non-provisional) Civil Service titles of Administrative Staff Analyst, Administrative Manager, Administrative Accountant, or Administrative Management Auditor. About the Audit Bureau The Audit Bureau conducts rigorous audits, independent assessments, and objective reviews to evaluate City operations and services. The Bureau’s work supports improved financial stewardship, risk mitigation, and the delivery of services that are efficient, effective, and equitable. By reporting findings to City officials, oversight bodies, and the public, the Bureau promotes transparency, accountability, integrity, and public trust. Position Overview Under the direction of senior management, the Manager of Research & Analysis supervises a team of professional staff responsible for two primary workstreams: Complaint and Issue Review: Evaluating and vetting complaints, concerns, and allegations received from a wide range of sources to determine whether they warrant further investigation, referral to internal or external agencies, or closure without additional action. In-Depth Research and Analysis: Conducting comprehensive reviews, analyses, and investigations that result in clear, well-supported reports outlining findings, evidence, conclusions, and recommendations. Key Responsibilities The Manager’s duties include, but are not limited to: Managing a high volume of incoming complaints, allegations, and concerns, ensuring timely and accurate evaluation. Identifying City issues within the jurisdiction of the Office of the Comptroller that may warrant further research, analysis, or investigation. Overseeing a smaller portfolio of complex, non-audit projects involving data collection, document review, interviews, and detailed analysis. Drafting clear, logical, and persuasive case notes, memoranda, findings summaries, correspondence, and formal reports. Assigning work, monitoring progress, holding staff accountable for deliverables, and providing coaching and developmental guidance. Ensuring all work is thoroughly documented and maintained within the designated system of record. Performing other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
